Developing strong reading skills is crucial for students as it establishes the foundation for their academic journey. Our Literacy Improvement Programs, Duval Reads, is designed to provide intensive one-on-one and small group literacy tutoring to elementary school students. Our primary goal is to enhance each student's reading proficiency by a minimum of 10% throughout the academic year. Our AmeriCorps tutors work in schools on both full-time and part-time basis to ensure that each student receives individualized attention. Moreover, our tutors connect with students virtually, when necessary, to offer an engaging experience that promotes learning from home. With our literacy initiative, we aim to equip students with essential reading skills that will support their academic and personal growth.
